Global Shia Community Mourns Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her); Nine Iraqi Provinces Declare Holiday
——————————-
The Shia world, particularly Iraq, observed the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) with widespread mourning rituals and official recognition, demonstrating the profound significance of the daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family) in the community.
More details in the following report:
On the martyrdom anniversary, nine Iraqi provinces declared a public holiday, shutting down official departments and institutions. According to the Iraqi Official News Agency and Middle East News, this local, non-federal decision was made by the provincial councils of Dhi Qar, Maysan, Holy Najaf, Basra, Muthanna, Holy Karbala, Wasit, and Diyala to facilitate participation in the mourning ceremonies.
In Holy Najaf, mourning rituals were led by Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi near the shrine of Imam Ali (A.S.). The procession featured large groups of mourners, scholars, and students reciting elegies and eulogies in honor of the oppressed life and ethical conduct of Lady Al-Zahra. The ceremonies in the Holy Shrines of Najaf, Karbala, Samarra, and Kadhimayn are continuing.
Mourning ceremonies extended globally, with the Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, holding an event for local faithful. The program included recitations of the Holy Quran, the Ziyarat of Sayyida Al-Zahra (peace be upon her), and Ziyarat Ashura, followed by speeches in Danish and Arabic detailing her trials.
Additionally, the Office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi’s media network in Holy Karbala produced a special series titled “Maqāmāt al-Kawthar” (Stations of Al-Kawthar). The program, which aired across the network’s channels (including the Imam Husayn Media Group), examines the high status of Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) on the Day of Judgment, consistent with the guidance of the Supreme Marja to revive the sacred Fatimid rituals.
Mourning ceremonies were also held at the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi in the Holy City of Karbala. During the event, Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Dhiya’ al-Zubaydi delivered a speech, focusing on the oppression (maẓlūmiyyah) endured by Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
The gathering concluded with elegies (marthiya) and mourning rituals, commemorating the memory and legacy of the beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny).
