Daily scientific session of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi in holy city of Qom
In the daily scientific session on Thursday (Dhu al-Hijjah 21, 1443 AH – 21/7/2022 AD) of His Eminence, the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, one of the believers asked:
“Is parental maintenance obligatory for all children, or only for the eldest son?”
His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, replied:
If the parents are poor, then all the children, male and female, if they have the financial ability, should spend on them and help them according to their needs, that is, to the extent of the needs of the father and the mother.
His Eminence the Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also answered many other questions that were raised in the aforementioned session, including: the virtue of Islamic ritual sacrifice, the ruling on a wife’s inheritance of land, and the ruling on the impurity of bird droppings.
