The Supreme Marja has made enlightening speeches recently with regards to the central role of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in guidance of mankind, with the months of Muharram and Safar presenting a prime opportunity for reconciliation with the sacred Husseini sanctuary.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has emphasized that Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, represents a central standard in the divine test of humanity and that his uprising remains a path of guidance and salvation.

His Eminence said narrations from Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, including those related to their creation and the events of Ashura, clearly show that Allah made Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, a means through which people’s positions are tested.

He explained that some people attained the path to paradise by supporting Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and following his reformist movement, while others distanced themselves from divine mercy through their opposition to him.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said the companions and family members of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, reached the highest ranks because of their sincerity, loyalty, and sacrifice on the day of Ashura. By contrast, he said, the enemies of Imam Hussein chose the path of destruction through injustice and hostility toward his sacred cause.

His Eminence linked this reality to the Quranic principle of divine trial, citing the verse: “So that We may see how you act,” stressing that trials reveal a person’s stance toward truth and falsehood.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also said the months of Muharram and Safar offer an important opportunity to spread the message of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, guide people toward truth, and expose efforts aimed at distorting their teachings.

He called on believers, religious institutions, preachers, and Husseini processions to use these months to promote the knowledge of Ahlulbayt, strengthen religious awareness, and preserve the faith identity of society through the values embodied in the Husseini revival.
