Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: All Mara’ji Will Follow Imam Mahdi Upon His Reappearance

During his daily scholarly session on Monday, the 9th of Jumada al-Thani 1447, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi addressed attendees’ questions on various jurisprudential matters, as is customary in his sessions.

Regarding the status of religious authorities after the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), the Supreme Marja stated that once Imam al-Mahdi reappears, all Mara’ji (sources of emulation) will follow him.

His Eminence explained that the current position of the Marja’iyya (religious authority) exists because the Immaculate Imam is in occultation and not physically present.

He emphasized, however, that should the Immaculate Imam appear, every Marja‘ will adhere to and follow his guidance.
