22nd of Rabi’ al-Thani Marks the Passing of Musa al-Mubarqa’
——————————————-
The 22nd of Rabi’ al-Thani marks the death anniversary of Musa al-Mubarqa’ (peace be upon him), the son of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) and one of the earliest of the Razavi Sayyids (descendants of Imam Reza, peace be upon him).

Musa al-Mubarqa’ arrived in the city of Qom in 256 AH. He was known as al-Mubarqa’ (the veiled one) because he wore a veil over his face due to his striking handsomeness. Initially, the Arab inhabitants of Qom did not recognize him and expelled him from the city.

After a period of residence in the city of Kashan, he was brought back to Qom with great respect and welcome from the people, where he settled permanently. It is reported in Al-Kafi that he held the custodianship of endowments (awqaf) on behalf of the Imam.

According to the Tarikh Qom (History of Qom), he passed away on the night of Wednesday, the 22nd of Rabi’ al-Thani in 296 A.H. The Amir of Qom, Abbas ibn Amr Ghanawi, led the funeral prayer for him, as reported by Bihar al-Anwar. His shrine is located in the Chihil Akhtaran area of Qom, on Azar Street. He was buried in what was formerly the house of Muhammad ibn Hasan ibn Abi Khalid al-Ash’ari, known as Shanbulah.
