Al-Azhar Chief Stresses Need to Avoid Desecration of Religious Sanctities

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, stressed the paramount importance of avoiding the desecration of religious sanctities and symbols, underscoring that disrespect for other faiths harms the principles of peaceful coexistence.

According to the International Quran News Agency (IQNA), Sheikh el-Tayeb emphasized that true followers of any religion must maintain profound respect for the beliefs, symbols, and holy sites of other faiths. He stated that failing to respect religious sanctities is a direct contradiction to the teachings of all Abrahamic religions and is a recipe for fueling conflict and hatred.

His remarks were made during an event aimed at promoting interfaith dialogue and mutual understanding.
