A bomb explosion was reported today in the Bab Sharqi area of eastern Damascus, coinciding with the closure of all roads leading to the Dweila district and the Damascus International Airport road.

Security sources said a security cordon was imposed, and access to the airport road was blocked to secure the area. Initial information about casualties was limited.

Preliminary reports indicate that the blast originated from an explosive device planted near the Weapons Administration, with investigations ongoing to determine the full circumstances. A military source later confirmed that the device was placed inside a vehicle targeting the Damascus Weapons Administration center, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.

Subsequently, the Syrian Ministry of Defense’s Media and Communications Directorate reported that army units discovered another explosive device near a ministry building in Bab Sharqi. The device was being defused when a car bomb detonated, killing one soldier and injuring several others.
