Senior ISIS leader killed in US airstrike in Syria
A senior Daesh/ISIS leader was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Syria on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday citing the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
The slain militant was identified as Usamah Jamal Muhammad Ibrahim al-Janabi, described as a “facilitator” for the terrorist group. CENTCOM stated that al-Janabi’s death will “disrupt ISIS’s ability to resource and conduct terror attacks.”
The military command emphasized that the airstrike did not result in any civilian casualties. CENTCOM vowed to continue operations alongside regional allies to degrade ISIS’s operational capabilities and ensure the group’s ultimate defeat.
The targeted strike against this senior ISIS figure is the latest effort in the ongoing campaign to eliminate the terrorist organization’s leadership and disrupt its activities in the region.
