Human rights committee warns of a new massacre in Saudi Arabia

The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in the Arabian Peninsula warned of the seriousness of the humanitarian and human rights situation in Saudi Arabia, after the escalation of death sentences by the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh, against citizens of prisoners of conscience, activists and protestors.

The Committee stated in a statement, “The court issued death sentences against a group of citizens, because they practiced their right to express their opinions and express their views through social networks, or by going out in peaceful marches calling for freedom, social justice and equality among the people of the country.”

The Committee stressed that the continuous issuance of these arbitrary sentences proves the falseness of allegations of observance of human rights and the abolition of the death penalty, pointing out that the tyranny of human life under the sway of power through a politicized judiciary and unfair trials in which there is a lack of transparency and the most basic elements of justice, reveals the horror of what the children are exposed to in terms of crimes and violations by the regime and its security services.

The Committee called on the international community and human rights organizations in the world to move seriously and quickly, to stop this expected massacre and the massive violations of the lives of citizens under various pretexts and accusations, which are fabricated and do not meet legal and human rights standards.
