Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah: A record increase in the number of pilgrims in 2023
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced that the number of pilgrims during 2023 Umrah reached a record high of 13.55 million pilgrims.
The ministry: “The largest number of Umrah pilgrims from outside the Kingdom wasestimated at 8.55 million in 2019, in 2023 the number increased to 13.55 million pilgrims, which is the largest increase in the history of pilgrims from outside the Kingdom. The number of increases is estimated at 5 million pilgrims, or an increase of 58%.”
Regarding its preparations for the Hajj rituals for 2024, the ministry explained that it “launched projects worth more than 5 billion riyals to develop the infrastructure in the holy sites,” adding that “more than 40,000 workers were trained last year, and this year more than 120,000 people will be trained to serve the pilgrims”
It added that, “more than 35 companies will provide their services in this year’s Hajj, compared to 20 companies last year.”
