Suicide Car Bombing Hits Police Station in Northwestern Pakistan, Five Killed

At least five people were killed and 13 others injured in a suicide car bombing targeting a police station in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northwestern Pakistan, according to local officials.
Authorities said the attacker rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the perimeter of a police facility in the Domel area, triggering a powerful blast that damaged nearby homes and caused civilian casualties, including women and children.
No group has officially claimed responsibility, though such attacks in the region are often linked to militant groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has intensified operations against Pakistani security forces in recent years.
The attack comes amid a broader surge in violence across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since early 2026, multiple bombings and armed attacks have targeted police, military personnel, and civilians in the province, reflecting a deteriorating security environment.
The region, bordering Afghanistan, has remained volatile, with Islamabad repeatedly accusing cross-border militant networks of fueling instability—claims denied by Kabul.
Pakistani authorities have launched investigations into the latest attack as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts to contain rising militancy and protect security installations.
