Pakistani Universities Mandated to Offer Quranic Courses
————————————–
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has mandated that all Pakistani universities and colleges must introduce two compulsory courses on the concepts of the Holy Quran into their degree programs, according to the International Quran News Agency (IQNA).
The directive requires all universities to include the courses, titled “Understanding the Holy Quran – 1” and “Understanding the Holy Quran – 2,” in all undergraduate and postgraduate programs starting from the fall semester of 2025. Each course will carry one credit hour and must be taught in person.
This initiative is an expansion of a directive originally issued in 2005 to strengthen Quranic knowledge among students. The HEC is now actively seeking updated compliance reports from all institutions and is working to ensure that professors teaching these subjects receive proper training before the new academic year begins.
