Prominent Pakistani leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, has warned that sectarian divisions are being deliberately fueled to obstruct the establishment of an Islamic governance system in Pakistan.

In a strongly worded speech, he said sectarianism is not a natural result of doctrinal differences but a calculated strategy to divide the Muslim community and prevent unity-based justice.

He also criticized the ongoing chaos around the moon sighting for Muharram and the lack of regulation over religious processions, describing them as tools used to incite sectarian unrest.

Fazlur Rehman condemned calls to separate religion from state affairs, asserting that religion is essential for justice and order. He stressed that rejecting Islamic principles only enables corruption and instability.
