IS-Affiliated Terrorist Group Claims Responsibility for Peshawar Suicide Bombing Attack

The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) claimed responsibility for the May 11 suicide bombing in Peshawar, Pakistan, which killed two police officers and injured three, News World reported.
According to ISKP’s weekly publication Al-Naba, the attacker, Abu Ibrahim al-Khorasani, detonated an explosive belt when police stopped him at a checkpoint near Peshawar’s Chamkani police station. Investigators suggest the bomber’s intended target was a Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) gathering at Mufti Mehmood Markaz, attended by party leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, though this is not yet confirmed.

ISKP has a history of attacking JUI-F events, including a July 2023 suicide bombing in Bajaur district that killed 54 people.
