Deadly Clashes Between India and Pakistan Leave Over 50 Dead, Ceasefire Holds

At least 51 people, including 40 civilians and 11 armed personnel, have been killed in recent hostilities between India and Pakistan, Anadolu Agency reported.

The casualties include seven women and 15 children, with 199 others injured. Among the armed forces fatalities, seven were soldiers and four from the Pakistan Air Force, with 78 personnel wounded.

The violence escalated after India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6-7, targeting nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. India reported losing five personnel during the operation. Pakistan retaliated with Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, firing missiles at 26 Indian military targets, claiming to have downed five Indian aircraft.

The clashes occurred along the Line of Control in Kashmir, a disputed border region. The conflict followed a deadly attack on Indian tourists in April, blamed on Pakistan by India but denied by Islamabad. A US-mediated ceasefire has held since the weekend, though tensions remain high.
