Balochistan Rocked by Suicide Bomber Attack as Imran Khan Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

In a concerning development, a suspected suicide bomber targeted a political protest rally in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reported. The attack, which occurred near the rally of Balochistan National Party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, did not result in any civilian casualties, with only the bomber being killed.
This incident comes just days after a spate of attacks in the province, including the killing of eight passengers in two separate incidents on Thursday. The mineral-rich Balochistan has faced a low-level insurgency for years, with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) carrying out similar assaults in the past.

Amidst the ongoing security challenges in the region, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by members of the Norway-based advocacy group Pakistan World Alliance (PWA). The nomination, which was announced on Saturday, recognizes Khan’s work on human rights and democracy during his tenure as the country’s leader.
This is not the first time Khan has been nominated for the prestigious award, as he was also considered in 2019 for his efforts to promote peace in South Asia. However, the former premier has faced a series of legal troubles, including a 14-year prison sentence for misuse of authority and corruption.
