Pakistan Sees Decline in Militant Attacks in June

June saw a 20% decline in militant attacks across Pakistan, resulting in fewer deaths and injuries, Dawn Newspaper reported today.

According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, militants carried out 69 attacks last month, leaving 60 people dead and 65 injured.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained the most affected province, with 27 attacks leading to 21 deaths. Militants also kidnapped 5 people in the province. In the former tribal areas, 28 attacks resulted in 30 deaths.

Balochistan witnessed an 80% decline in deaths, with 11 attacks leading to 6 fatalities. Insurgents also kidnapped 10 people in the province, though 3 were later released.

Punjab and Sindh also saw improvements, with only 1 and 2 attacks respectively. Authorities also arrested a top Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan commander during this period.
