Lebanese media reported on Friday that 16 people were martyred following a series of airstrikes and heavy artillery shelling carried out by the Israeli army on several areas in the Nabatieh district of southern Lebanon. The attacks targeted inhabited homes, residential neighborhoods, and multiple towns, causing widespread destruction to housing infrastructure.
The National News Agency reported that Israeli forces launched successive overnight and early-morning strikes on the towns of Al-Sharqiyah, Harouf, and Kfar Sir, resulting in deaths and injuries, with several people reported missing under the rubble after civilian homes were directly targeted.
The agency added that Israeli warplanes carried out a series of raids on the city of Nabatieh, as well as the towns of Kfar Tebnit and Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, while shelling also hit the Rayhan Heights. Other strikes targeted Kfar Jouz–Nabatieh, the Universities neighborhood, and the Al-Baydar neighborhood in Harouf, killing eight people.
Additional strikes hit the Al-Ashamiyah area between Al-Sharqiyah and Al-Duweir, destroying a house and killing four people. This coincided with heavy artillery shelling on the Nuns’ Quarter in Nabatieh, while three people were killed in Kfar Sir in a direct Israeli airstrike.
The agency also reported that a drone struck a motorcycle near the municipality building in Al-Duweir, killing one person and wounding another. The town of Jibshit was also hit by a series of airstrikes alongside heavy artillery shelling, while additional raids targeted the towns of Adshit, Toul, and Kfar Jouz amid continuing military operations in the area.
