Three Journalists Killed in Israeli Strike on Press Vehicle in Southern Lebanon

Three Lebanese journalists were killed on March 28 after an Israeli air strike targeted a clearly marked press vehicle in southern Lebanon, amid escalating regional conflict involving Israel, Iran, and Hezbollah.

The victims included reporter Fatima Ftouni and cameraman Mohammed Ftouni of Al Mayadeen, along with reporter Ali Shaib of Al Manar. According to reports from Reuters and Agence France-Presse, the vehicle was struck by multiple precision missiles near Jezzine, despite being clearly identified as press.

The Israeli military acknowledged the strike, alleging that Shaib was linked to Hezbollah’s intelligence activities. The media outlets rejected the claim, while Lebanese officials condemned the attack as a violation of international law protecting journalists.

The strike occurred during intensified hostilities in southern Lebanon. The World Health Organization reported that nine paramedics were killed the same day in separate incidents affecting healthcare services.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry says more than 1,100 people have been killed since early March as the conflict escalates and civilian infrastructure comes under strain.
