UN Expressed Deep Concern Over Escalating Tensions Between Lebanon, Israel
The UN human rights office expressed grave concern over the rising tensions between Lebanon and Israel, Anadolu news agency reported today.
Spokesperson Ravina Shamdasan stated they are “extremely worried” about the situation, with hundreds killed, thousands injured, and tens of thousands displaced already. The office stressed the urgent need for de-escalation and cessation of hostilities.
Shamdasan called for a full investigation into any incidents involving civilian casualties, which include reports of children, paramedics, and journalists among the dead.
The human rights office emphasized the importance of compliance with international humanitarian law, reminding the parties of their obligations.
Tensions have escalated along the Lebanon-Israel border, with cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces amid Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza, which has killed over 37,700 people since October.
