Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam Ali Observed in Kashmir

Thousands of Kashmiri Muslims gathered at shrines and Imambargahs on March 22 to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), Kashmir Observer reported.
Major gatherings were held at Dargah Hazratbal, Zadibal, and Budgam, where Mirwaiz of Kashmir, Molvi Umar Farooq, paid tribute to Imam Ali, emphasizing his sacrifices and commitment to justice. He called for unity and condemned the misuse of religious platforms to incite sectarian discord.
In Baramulla, the district administration imposed restrictions to prevent the traditional Yaum-e-Ali procession due to security concerns, citing potential clashes within the Shia community. This decision faced backlash from many in the Shia community, who viewed it as an infringement on their religious rights. Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari was placed under house arrest, further fueling discontent.
