The Iraqi Security Media Cell announced on Sunday the arrest of eight “terrorists” in six Iraqi cities, including the federal capital, Baghdad. In a press statement, the Security Cell said that “based on accurate intelligence information of the intelligence and security departments and divisions in Basra, Maysan and Anbar Operations Command, elaborate ambushes were set up in separate areas of the above governorates.”
It added, “The operations resulted in the arrest of eight terrorists wanted by the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law in the districts of Al-Qaim, Tal Afar, Qalaat Saleh, Hit and Al-Mahmudiyah, on the outskirts of the southern capital, Al-Ramadi and Al-Madinah.”
In the summer of 2017, Iraq announced the “liberation” of all its lands from the control of the terrorist organization, and the federal security forces continue to carry out security and military operations to pursue the remnants of the terrorist organization of ISIS.
