Muslims to commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Allah’s Messenger’s (peace be upon him)

The 28th day of the month of Safar (the second month in the lunar Hijri calendar) marks the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family.

Muslims all over the world commemorate the Prophet of Islam’s martyrdom by holding special mourning ceremonies.  

The holy city of Najaf witnesses on the Prophet’s martyrdom anniversary large influx of millions of pilgrims from Iraq, Islamic, and non-Islamic countries.

From the 23th until the 30th of the month of Safar is the Muhammadiyah week; dedicated for the commemoration of the Prophet’s martyrdom.

The Messenger of Allah was subjected to all forms of injustice until the very last moment of his life.

The narration of the ‘Tragedy of Thursday’ on the 24th of the month of Safar; when the Prophet asked for a pen and paper to issue a written statement shortly before his martyrdom. A document for his nation lest they go astray after him.

Omar bin al-Kattab prevented the Prophet from doing so, belittled him and smeared his authority by shouting to his face: “The man is hallucinating”.

It is worth mentioning that followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, go on foot to holy Najaf. Mourning processions and service Mawkibs will also be established to mourn the day and serve the pilgrims.
