Over five million Iranian pilgrims to participate in upcoming Arbaeen Pilgrimage

With the sorrowful day of Ashura peacefully commemorated across the world, Shia Muslims now prepare to mark the massive Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.

In the previous years, the number of pilgrims coming to perform pilgrimage to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, was limited due Corona pandemic which ripped through the world.

In 2021, Iraqi authorities granted visas to only 80,000 pilgrims from all the world, provided that each pilgrim had to bring a COVID certificate for travel.

With the pandemic-related restrictions lifted, visa fees dropped and land borders reopened, more than five million Iranians will participate in the upcoming Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in holy Karbala – Iraq, according to media outlets.

It is worth mentioning that Arbaeen Pilgrimage marks forty days after the tragic martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family and his honorable companions (peace be upon them all), with millions of Shia mourners marching on foot towards his holy shrine in holy Karbala.
