Among these rituals is that the first ten days of the sacred month of Muharram are each dedicated to each one of the members of the Imam’s family (peace be upon them); who have sacrificed their lives and shed their blood for the sake Allah the Almighty and to support Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

So each day a member of this holy family is commemorated to show his position and virtues, although the Imam and all the members of his family and companions were killed on the tenth day of Muharram.
