Crowds of pilgrims revive the International Day in Support of al-Askariyain, peace be upon them
The Public Relations Officer of the Shirazi Religious Authority, Sayyed Aref Nasrallah, announced the participation of thousands of pilgrims in commemorating the International Day in Support of al-Askariyain, peace be upon them, in Samarra.
In an interview with Shia Waves News Agency, Sayyed Nasrallah said that on the last Friday of the great month of Ramadan, the followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, revive the International Day in Support of the Askariyain Imams, peace be upon them, in compliance with the directives of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, for there to be continuous support of the two Imams, peace be upon them, especially on the last Friday of the great month of Ramadan, and it is an old Sunnah that the honorable Shirazi family initiated.
Nasrallah added that 450 buses transported pilgrims form Karbala to Samarra to revive the occasion, stressing that the pilgrimage will reach a million pilgrims in the coming years.
He praised the efforts of the Holy Shrine and the security forces in cooperating with the authorities and making the pilgrimage a success. He also praised the efforts of the Karbala processions in serving the honorable pilgrims.
Around 18,000 pilgrims were transported to Samarra for free to participate in the commemoration of the International Day in Support of the al-Askariyain Imams, peace be upon them.
