The Misbah Al-Hussain Foundation for Relief and Development, one of the centres affiliated with the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, is advancing its “Karbala Vision” project, aiming to prepare the city to accommodate 50 million visitors during the Arbaeen pilgrimage by 2030. According to the foundation, committees are holding weekly preparatory meetings to finalize a comprehensive report covering all aspects of the study.
The project team includes experts from the University of Karbala, consultancy offices, government departments, and local authorities. Spanning over five years, the initiative seeks to enhance infrastructure, public services, and crowd management in Holy Karbala. The foundation emphasized that the plan relies on scientific research and field experience to ensure the city can safely and efficiently host the growing number of pilgrims during one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.
