Iraq Establishes Al-Batool College of Medicine at University of Mosul

Iraq’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naim al-Aboudi, has approved the establishment of Al-Batool College of Medicine at the University of Mosul. The ministry confirmed that the new college will be included in the 2025–2026 centralized admissions form, allowing secondary school graduates from both rounds to apply based on merit and grades.

The decision also enables students to modify or confirm their choices within the admissions system if they wish to apply to the new program. Officials noted that the initiative is expected to expand opportunities for medical education, attract more students, and strengthen the university’s role in training healthcare professionals. The University of Mosul has hosted a medical faculty since 1959.
