Shia Man Killed in Aleppo in Sectarian-Motivated Attack

Local sources have reported the killing of Qais Ali Gharib, a young Shia man and father of three children from the town of Nubl in Aleppo province, after several days of being abducted.
According to Shia Waves Agency, the kidnappers initially attempted to portray the case as a criminal abduction, demanding ransom for his release. However, subsequent investigations revealed that Qais had been killed on the very first day of his kidnapping.
Security findings indicate that the primary motive behind the crime was sectarian hostility, with the victim targeted specifically because of his connection to the predominantly Shia town of Nubl.
The killing has raised concerns among observers over the persistence of sectarian violence in northern Syria, where communities remain vulnerable to targeted attacks despite ongoing security efforts.
