The Karbala branch of the Journalists Syndicate announced extensive local, Arab, and international media participation in covering this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage. Branch head Hussein al-Shammari said that 41 television channels, nine radio stations, and 11 news agencies took part in the coverage, with a total of 1,080 journalists, media professionals, and technicians involved. This included 167 Arab and foreign media representatives.

He noted that the field coverage was supported by 16 SNG broadcast vehicles and 20 LiveU units, enabling continuous transmission of the pilgrimage’s events worldwide. Al-Shammari emphasized that such a strong media presence reflects the global significance of Arbaeen and highlights its humanitarian and service dimensions.

The Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, marks 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein in the 680 CE Battle of Karbala. Each year on 20 Safar, millions walk to Karbala from across Iraq and beyond under tight security and service arrangements.
