Iraq’s Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has affirmed the country’s full preparedness to receive millions of pilgrims from neighboring and friendly nations for the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage. The preparations are part of a comprehensive national plan focused on security, service provision, and smooth movement across key routes.
Speaking during a meeting in Baghdad with the deputy interior ministers of Iran and Pakistan, al-Shammari emphasized that serving the visitors of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is a source of pride for the Iraqi government and people alike, regardless of background or affiliation. He described the occasion as a deeply spiritual and humanitarian duty that reflects Iraq’s values of hospitality and solidarity.
The minister underscored that Iraq’s security and service institutions have mobilized their full capacities to accommodate the influx of pilgrims. These efforts are intended to uphold the sanctity and scale of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, while showcasing the spirit of unity among Iraq’s diverse communities and the broader region.
Al-Shammari also highlighted the need for enhanced regional coordination among interior ministries to safeguard pilgrims and facilitate their entry and movement within the country. He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to providing a secure, organized, and dignified environment for all participants in one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
