Over 500 Videos Document Crimes Against Humanity by Syrian Security Forces in Sweida
………………..
Sources revealed on Thursday the existence of more than 500 video clips documenting harrowing crimes allegedly committed by members of Syria’s General Security in the southern province of Sweida in recent days. According to the sources, human rights organizations and activists have compiled a large archive of footage showing severe violations, including executions, mutilation of bodies, and the burning of civilian homes.
These acts are attributed to units affiliated with the General Security and the Ministry of Defense. The videos reportedly provide clear visual evidence, capturing both the perpetrators’ faces and the identities of victims — among them elderly individuals and young men. The sources stressed that claims of “unknown perpetrators” are no longer credible, as the footage directly implicates security personnel operating in sectarian-based armed detachments.
Sweida, home to a majority Druze population, has witnessed a large-scale incursion by government security forces in recent days. The offensive has resulted in significant civilian casualties and is being described by observers as one of the most brutal sectarian atrocities in Syria’s recent history, drawing condemnation from local and international human rights advocates.
