Arab foreign ministers convene in Baghdad to prepare for annual summit

Arab foreign ministers gathered in Baghdad on Thursday to prepare for the upcoming annual Arab summit, scheduled for May 17, Anadolu Agency reported.

The meeting opened with a speech by Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani, representing the current chair of the Arab summit, before he passed the chairmanship to Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

In his remarks, Hussein reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to stability in Syria, then concluded the opening session and transitioned the meeting into a closed session.

This year’s summit will focus on the theme “Dialogue, Solidarity, and Development,” addressing a range of issues, including the ongoing Israeli conflict in Gaza, where nearly 53,000 people have died since October 2023.
