Kurdish forces detain 16 ISIS militants in Roj camp

Kurdish-led security forces arrested 16 ISIS militants during a raid on Roj camp in northeast Syria on Saturday, seizing communication equipment and uncovering a secret trench used for infiltration and smuggling, Rudaw reported.
The militants were involved in recruiting and smuggling families from the camp, according to a statement from the Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). Roj camp, smaller than the larger al-Hol camp, houses individuals linked to ISIS.
Both camps are controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who have expressed concerns about a possible ISIS resurgence. The YPJ emphasized that this operation is a significant step in combating terrorism and ensuring safety in the region. Many camp residents are Iraqi or Syrian nationals, with ongoing repatriation efforts by the Iraqi government. Kurdish authorities have called for the repatriation of foreign nationals linked to ISIS, but many countries remain hesitant due to security issues.
