Iraqi Minister of Interior visits Diyala Governorate ahead of Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage

In a series of provincial visits, the Minister of Interior of Iraq went to Diyala Governorate in order to supervise the implementation of support and service activities as well as to manage security issues related to Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him).

Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari arrived in Diyala Governorate on Wednesday as part of his provincial trips to supervise the security measures intended to ensure the safety of the Arba’een Pilgrimage of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) in order to hold this ceremony as magnificently as possible.

Al-Shammari, who is the head of the High Security Committee tasked to ensure the security of the Arba’een pilgrimage, stated that the purpose of his trip is to discuss and exchange opinions about the current preparations to ensure the security of the Holy Arba’een pilgrimage of Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him, in this governorate and its border crossings.

During his visit, the Iraqi senior official met with the military and security commanders of Diyala Governorate in order to review the security plans and ensure the readiness of executive agents to provide the necessary protection for millions of Husseini Arba’een pilgrims.

The meetings emphasized the importance of coordination between various security institutions and services to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims during the commemoration of the largest Shia convention.

Also, several checkpoints, border crossings and sensitive places in the governorate were visited to check and monitor their preparedness as well as to maintain the security measures adopted and to ensure the availability of all the necessary tools.

This visit is taking place while the country of Iraq is witnessing extensive preparations to ensure the security of the Arba’een pilgrimage of Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him, which is one of the largest religious gatherings, attracting millions of pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq.

It should be mentioned that the Minister of Interior of Iraq has so far traveled to Babil, Dhi Qar, Basra, Salahuddin and Karbala Governorates in order to monitor the security service activities of the Holy Husseini Arba’een.
