Turkish airstrike kills 2 Yazidi militiamen in northern Iraq
Two Yazidi militiamen linked to the PKK were killed in a Turkish drone strike in northern Iraq, Xinhua news agency reported.
The strike targeted a vehicle carrying members of the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS), resulting in the death of a YBS official and a militia member, and injuring another.
The YBS, established by Yazidi community members in 2007, has close ties with the PKK.
Turkish security forces frequently conduct operations in northern Iraq to target PKK hideouts and bases, as the PKK has been allegedly engaged in insurgency against the Turkish government for over three decades and is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU.
