Iraqi caravan starts journey on foot from northern Iran towards Karbala to revive Arbaeen

The first Iraqi caravan set off from the Iranian province of Mazandaran, which is about 736 kilometers away from the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Redha (peace be upon him), on foot towards Iraq to commemorate the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

The head of the Abi Fadhl al-Abbas Caravan, Sheikh Abu Muhammad al-Hamim, said in a video clip obtained by Shia Waves News Agency: “The caravan includes Iraqi pilgrims who came a while ago to visit Imam al-Redha and his sister Fatima al-Masouma (peace be upon them) to receive blessings from their holy shrines.”

He added that “the members of the caravan decided to start the march towards the holy city of Karbala, in honor of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) and to participate in the revival of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage.”

Al-Hamim said: “The caravan left near the shrine of Sayyed Yahya ibn Zaid Al-Shahid (peace be upon him) in the city of Jurjan in Mazandaran, towards the Iraqi border, to join the caravans of the lovers who are traveling from different countries of the world to the holy city of Karbala to revive the massive pilgrimage.”

The head of the caravan also offered thanks to processions and service tents set up along the pilgrims’ route between Iraq and Iran and their great efforts in the service of the caravans.
