Tehran Government Offices to Close Amid Severe Heat Wave
………………..

Due to an intense heat wave and energy conservation efforts, government offices, banks, and businesses in Iran’s capital, Tehran, will close on Wednesday, state media reported.

Temperatures in the capital have surpassed 40°C (104°F), prompting authorities to advise residents to remain indoors during peak heat hours. A government spokesperson urged citizens to reduce electricity and water usage.

Iran previously declared a one-day national holiday in July 2024 for similar reasons, following a two-day closure in 2023. Meanwhile, Borazjan in southern Bushehr province recorded the highest temperature in the past 24 hours at 50°C (122°F).
