Iranian pilgrims join the 2024 Arbaeen pilgrimage

Tens of thousands of Iranians have started their pilgrimage to the holy city of Karbala.
The country’s borders are “fully prepared” to ease the pilgrims’ journey as much as possible for this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage. Many groups of pilgrims have arrived at the Khuzestan province, southwest Iran, to embark on their journey.
During a visit to the Khuzestan province, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi stated that “Necessary arrangements have been made with our Iraqi brothers,” ensuring that the “movement of pilgrims will proceed smoothly”.
In an interview, Hossein Zafari, spokesperson for Iran’s Crisis Management Organisation, emphasised that actions are being taken to provide “relief and services to the pilgrims”, in addition to security. He also urged pilgrims to heed medical advice and to drive carefully inside and outside the country’s borders.
A health delegation was also dispatched to Iran’s western borders on Thursday. The delegation aims to keep the pilgrims well and healthy during the pilgrimage.
