Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, his companions die in helicopter crash

Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, the president of Iran, died due to a helicopter crash in Warzghan region of East Azerbaijan province.

The helicopter carrying the president of Iran, which had gone to the border area to open the Khoda-afrin dam, had an accident on the way back to Tabriz.

In addition to Iranian President Ebrahim Raeesi, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Seyyed Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, Congregational Prayer Imam of Tabriz, and Malik Rahmati, Governor of East Azerbaijan were aboard the helicopter.

According to Turkey’s official Anatolia news agency, the wreckage of the helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation was found by a Turkish Akinci drone.

It should be mentioned that an Akinci drone identified the exact location of the helicopter’s wreckage hours after the accident and the relevant information had been provided by Turkey to the Iranian authorities.

According to Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution, if approved by the leader of Iran, the first vice president will take over the responsibility of running the country for a maximum of 50 days until early elections.
