Grand Ayatollah Shirazi reiterates right to expression, warns of its suppression

The Shirazi Religious Authority has never ceased defending the Shias of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), and all humanity in establishing their religious rituals and ensuring a decent life, but also demanding their legitimate and legal right to freedom of expression, which is confirmed by the Islamic Sharia.

The Office of the Religious Authority conveyed the words and recommendations of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in this regard, in light of emphasizing them.

His Eminence in his important commandments followed by Shia Waves News Agency, stated that “it is the legitimate and legal right of the human being to freedom of expression and the use of any media of communication, and governments must respect this human right.”

He added that “one of the validations of freedom of expression is the establishment of loyal associations, organizations and parties, holding conferences, seminars, and others.”

His Eminence warned that “any move or behavior to prevent this right means slipping into the abyss of dictatorship and tyranny and filling prisons with innocents.”

The words of the Shirazi Authority come at a time when much emphasis is placed on Islamic and Arab governments to follow the commandments of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and his successor, the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and to implement what their rational government was built upon.
