Termite Infestations Plague Egyptian Residents
————————–
Widespread termite infestations in several residential areas of Egypt have caused extensive damage to housing structures, reduced the market value of affected properties by up to 35 percent, and imposed heavy financial burdens on families.
According to Shia Waves News Agency, citing Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, in many neighborhoods across Egyptian cities, cracks in walls or the erosion of wooden doors are no longer merely signs of aging buildings. Instead, they serve as serious warnings of a hidden threat—termites—which have now developed into a growing crisis with significant economic and social dimensions.
Experts believe that high humidity levels in coastal areas such as Alexandria, along with the lack of preventive standards during construction, are the main factors behind the escalation of this crisis.
