A workshop titled “The Art of Quran Transcription” took place on Tuesday, July 9, during the 20th Alexandria International Book Fair in Egypt, held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from July 8 to 21, Iqna reported.
The session, part of the fair’s cultural events, brought together Arabic calligraphy experts and practitioners to explore the historical development and stylistic evolution of Quranic manuscript transcription. Notable speakers included Ayman Namir, a calligraphy instructor at the Mohamed Ibrahim Arabic Calligraphy School in Alexandria, and Mohamed Hassan, a senior researcher at the Calligraphy Center of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
They discussed the artistic and technical progress of Quran transcription through various historical eras, highlighting the key calligraphic schools and styles that have shaped this traditional Islamic art.
