Imam Shirazi World Foundation issues statement on escalation of violence in Afghanistan

In a statement issued today, Sunday, the Imam Shirazi World Foundation (ISWF) warned of the escalation of violence in Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of dozens of innocent civilians, voicing its concern over the situation in the country.

The statement, which was received by Shia Waves Agency, was issued in the aftermath of the bloody massacre that targeted the Shia village of Seok Sheber.

The statement said that, “Unfortunately, Afghanistan has recently witnessed an escalation of bloody violence, which claimed the lives of dozens of innocent civilians in various regions. The serious security deterioration worries us, as we warned in our recent statement in the aftermath of the massacre that targeted the Afghan Shia village of “Seok Sheber”.

It seems that violence is expanding to target various ethnic. Furthermore, the circumstances of Afghan women have not witnessed any improvement under the Taliban government. Rather, international reports indicate an increase in the level of violence against them, not to mention depriving them of many of their gains that they have achieved during the past two decades in the field of education, work, health and law, in addition to living crises, and economy that do not exclude anyone from its catastrophic effects.”

The statement continued that, “Past experiences in Afghanistan have demonstrated the failure of policy of ethnic abolition, sectarian cleansing and resorting to violence to impose political will. As it drew the country into ruin and destruction and displaced millions of citizens, which requires all Afghans to abandon hatred, resort to dialogue, promote peaceful coexistence, uphold the supreme national interest, and respect human rights.”

The Imam Shirazi World Foundation called on International Community saying. “The international community must assume its responsibility towards Afghanistan by excreting more efforts to pressure the Taliban authority to engage in forming a comprehensive national unity government that guarantees the rights of all, especially women and minorities, and the international community is also required to continue humanitarian support for the Afghan people”.

In conclusion, the statement said, “As we express our solidarity and stand by the Afghan people through these difficult circumstances, we call on all countries, official bodies, humanitarian and civil organizations to support the Afghans in finding peaceful solutions that help them overcome the challenges they face. We also warn the international community against ignoring the situation in Afghanistan because of its impact on global peace and security.”
