Shirazi World Foundation calls on Taliban to respect rights of all Islamic sects innew constitution
The Shirazi World Foundation sent a letter to the leadership of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan, calling on it to include the rights of all Islamic sects in the new constitution, including the rights of followers of the Shia sect.
This letter, which was obtained by Shia Waves News Agency, comes on the occasion of the movement’s initiation to draft a new constitution for the country, which will establish laws and the legitimate rights of all Afghani people.
The Foundation called on Afghan legislators “to be guided by the biography of the Greatest Messenger and Commander of the Faithful Ali Ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon them both) and to follow their paths in handling the affairs of people, benefiting from their experiences and judgments, and enjoy mercy, affinity, tolerance and other features of Islam without discrimination, sectarianism or racism.”
The Foundation said: “The movement’s leaders are aware of the bloody series of conflicts that the country has fought, which have cost the people of all sects a heavy and costly price.
It added, “The movement must take in particular the inclusion in the constitution of the rights of Shia Muslims, as they represent a large part of the Afghan people, and take into account the reliance on the jurisprudence of the Jaafari school of thought, like other Islamic schools of thought.”
