A two‑day conference titled “Towards Unity and Trust” convened in London from 24–25 March 2026, bringing together Afghan civil society activists, political figures, and opponents of the Taliban to discuss unity, trust, and coordination among Afghan groups.

Organized by the diaspora group Women for Afghanistan, the event aimed to strengthen collaboration and articulate shared principles to address Afghanistan’s ongoing political, social, and economic challenges. Approximately 40 participants from diverse Afghan communities attended, including representatives of political parties, media, and civil society organizations.

Speakers emphasized the importance of building networks of dialogue and cooperation among Afghan actors to reduce tensions and provide practical support for vulnerable populations. Although the conference highlighted issues such as women’s rights, children, and family welfare, the primary focus remained on fostering political cohesion and consensus on common goals.

Organizers noted that initiatives like this can amplify Afghan civil society’s voice on the international stage, potentially influencing global institutions and governments to provide political and social support for Afghanistan. Analysts said such gatherings, even in diaspora settings, can create channels for coordination, trust-building, and long-term civic engagement among Afghan leaders and activists.
