Pakistan Continues Mass Deportations of Afghan Migrants
………
Pakistan deported 1,198 Afghan nationals on Monday, Dec. 8, according to the Taliban’s commission for refugees, Amu TV reported. The commission added that Iran also returned 381 Afghans the same day, through both forced and voluntary repatriations. Returnees entered Afghanistan via the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Bahramcha, Pul-e Abrisham and Islam Qala border points.
Islamabad expelled more than 3,100 Afghans on Sunday and 2,843 on Saturday, reflecting an intensified crackdown on undocumented migrants. The surge in deportations comes as key border crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained closed for nearly two months.
