Shia Residents of Daikundi Donate Over 1 Million Afghanis to Earthquake Victims in Eastern Afghanistan

Local officials in Afghanistan’s Daikundi province announced that residents of the predominantly Shia region have raised over one million Afghanis to assist victims of the recent earthquake in Kunar province.

According to Tolo News, the fundraising campaign was coordinated by a committee led by Khalid Ahmad Fazli, the head of the Daikundi Department of Information and Culture. The initiative saw widespread participation from community members, reflecting strong local solidarity with those affected by the disaster.

Provincial authorities emphasized that the effort symbolizes the spirit of compassion, unity, and national solidarity among the Afghan people, transcending regional and sectarian divisions. They expressed hope that the donations will help alleviate the hardships faced by families impacted by the earthquake.

The recent quake in eastern Afghanistan caused significant destruction, leaving many homeless and in urgent need of shelter, food, and medical assistance. Humanitarian agencies continue to appeal for support to address the growing needs in the affected areas.
