Kandahar Shia Community Honors Arbaeen by Serving People

Kandahar Shia Community Honors Arbaeen by Serving People
—————————
In Kandahar, Shia Muslims who were unable to travel to Iraq for this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage marked the occasion by offering food and drinks to people in the city, Shia Waves Persian reported.

The initiative was inspired by the tradition of serving pilgrims along the Arbaeen walk to Karbala, reflecting both devotion to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and the preservation of Hussaini values beyond Iraq’s borders.

Organizers described the act as a spiritual gesture to embody the culture of hospitality associated with the Arbaeen pilgrimage. Local residents welcomed the event, noting that it not only honored the memory of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) but also fostered unity and a sense of community service.

Observers say the Kandahar commemoration underscores how Shia communities in Afghanistan, despite restrictions and difficulties, continue to uphold rituals of remembrance and service connected with the Arbaeen.
