Taliban Expands University Exam Question Bank, Maintains Ban on Women

Afghanistan’s National Examination Authority announced the addition of 40,000 new questions to its university entrance exam bank over the past year, with changes aimed at improving standardization, local media reported. Authority head Abdul Baqi Haqqani said exam questions are now developed separately in Persian and Pashto, rather than being translated.
He noted that nearly 22,000 applicants participated in various assessments, including the national Kankor exams and religious school tests. However, women and girls remain barred from all forms of higher education exams under Taliban policy—a restriction widely condemned by international organizations and rights groups.
